Cort Lippe studied composition and computer music with Larry Austin; followed composition seminars with Boulez, Donatoni, K. Huber, Messiaen, Penderecki, Stockhausen, and Xenakis; spent three years at the Institute of Sonology working with G.M. Koenig and Paul Berg; three years at Xenakis’ studio CEMAMu; and nine years at IRCAM. His compositions have received numerous prizes, been performed at major festivals, and recorded on more than 30 CDs. Since 1994 he has taught in the Department of Music of the University at Buffalo, where he is associate professor of composition and director of the Hiller Computer Music Studios. (www.cortlippe.com)
